Frequently Asked Question

No Internet Connection
Last Updated about a month ago

If your computer cannot connect to the internet, start with a few basic checks before changing advanced network settings.

Start With These Basic Checks

  • Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on or the network cable is securely connected.
  • Check whether other computers or devices can get online.
  • Restart the affected computer.
  • Restart the modem and router if the entire location is offline.
  • Check for any warning lights on the modem or router.

If Only One Computer Is Affected

The problem may be with that computer's network settings, network adapter, drivers, or software.

If Every Device Is Offline

The problem may be with the modem, router, internet service, or other network equipment.

If the connection does not return after these basic checks, contact East Carolina Computers for assistance.
