Common Warning Signs

• An unexpected phone call claiming your computer has a problem.
• A pop-up saying your computer is infected and telling you to call a number.
• Someone asking you to install remote access software.
• Requests for payment by gift card, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or other unusual methods.
• Claims that your computer, Microsoft account, bank account, or internet connection will be shut down unless you act immediately.

ECC Will Not Demand Unexpected Remote Access

If You Receive a Suspicious Support Request

• Do not install anything.
• Do not provide passwords.
• Do not give the caller remote access.
• Close the message or end the call.
