Frequently Asked Question
Restoring Files
Last Updated 9 hours ago
If a file has been deleted, changed, or damaged, it may be possible to restore an earlier copy from backup.
Before Attempting a Restore
- Confirm which file or folder is missing.
- Note when you last remember the file being correct.
- Avoid creating or copying large amounts of new data onto the affected drive.
- Do not overwrite an existing file unless you are sure you no longer need the current version.
If You Use an ECC-Managed Backup Service
Contact East Carolina Computers and provide:
- The file or folder name.
- The approximate location of the file.
- The date or time period you want to restore from.
East Carolina Computers can help determine whether the file is available in backup and assist with restoring the correct version.
